Issue 37

Viewpoint 37 the Rebellion issue explores the timely backlash against the culture of the bland leading the bland, on the voices speaking out against global homogenisation, on the rejection of the glossy perfection portrayed by social media and on the quest for something more honest, real and worthwhile. In a world where ‘authenticity’ has become a marketing cliché, we also explore how genuine authenticity and realness remain touchstones, and how sincerity and originality continue to strike a chord. We show how a global media brand such as Vice has retained its rebellious stance over more than 20 years of bucking media trends; and discover the views of global visionaries such as Nick Knight and Naresh Ramchandani. Elsewhere in this issue we demonstrate how Rebellion translates into key design and colour trends for 2017 and beyond.
